parfume

The word perfume is derived from the French perfume, which means “perfumed water.” Perfume has been used since ancient times to mask unpleasant odors and improve the scent of foods and other items. The first perfumes were made from natural materials such as flowers and herbs, but they also contained alcohol, which evaporated quickly.

In the 18th century, chemists discovered that essential oils could be distilled from plants and used to make fragrances that lasted longer than those made with alcohol. By the early 19th century, chemists had developed better methods for extracting the essential oils from plants and synthetically creating new scents based on these oils.

Today there are many different types of perfumes to choose from:

Floral perfumes come in a wide variety of scents including jasmine, lily of valley, rose, gardenia and tuberose. Floral perfumes are popular because they have a soft scent that is gentle enough not to offend your nose or others around you. They also tend to be more versatile than other types of perfumes as they can be worn during both summer and winter seasons without being too heavy or hot on the skin.

Spicy perfumes include cinnamon
